What Is S.M.A.R.T. Kids Utah?
Our Mission
Our mission is to ensure each child and family has the opportunity to receive the sexual education and skills they need for healthy relationships in the future.
Currently, we do this by advocating for and supporting positive school policies
and state legislation that furthers this mission.
When schools, parents, and the state work together,
we support S.M.A.R.T. Kids.
S: Stay Safe
Our ultimate goal is that children stay safe.
M: Medically Accurate
Studies show that teaching children age-appropriate medically accurate information about their bodies, helps delay first-time sexual experiences.
A: Ask and Answer
Children need a safe place where they can ask questions and get answers. We help provide children and parents the resources they need.
R: Respect
Respect for oneself, and for others.
T: Teach Skills
We help provide tools, skills, and resources for parents and children.
Teach Facts At School.
Instill Values at Home.

Proven to Help
Prevent Sexual Abuse
1 in 3 girls and 1 in 4 boys will experience sexual abuse.

Prevention starts by helping youth know what abuse is, and also by helping them know how (and when) they should ask for help.

Having the skills to communicate, to use and express boundaries, and to know the difference between appropriate touch and inappropriate touch has been proven to reduce the risk of child sexual abuse.

Proven to Help
Protect Youth
Fact-based sexual health education in schools has been shown to delay first-time sexual experiences, reduce unplanned pregnancies, and reduce STI's in youth.
